Together with Simon van Iersel, I initiated a magazine, called Murf/Murw. In Dutch the word ‘murw’ means mellow, callous and obtuse. It’s is difficult to pronounce because of the ‘w’ in the end. Since a few years the spelling of the word had changed in ‘murf’, which is much easier to pronounce. In this change we recognize the meaning of the word. It’s a recalcitrant but vulnerable art magazine for the ones who love paper. Everybody can participate, but we select. As Murf/Murw quotates, reuses and mutates existing work, there is foremost place for new work.
